Meet the Directors

Since 1988, Clay and Barbara Wallace have been working with families in the inner city of Dallas. They began by mentoring hundreds of children in impoverished neighborhoods, visiting with them and their families on a weekly basis. With their team of volunteers from Gospel Lighthouse Church, Clay and Barbara transported them to weekly faith-based programs, designed specifically for their needs. Realizing the urgency to extend their reach, they began Dallas Metro Ministries in March of 1993. This outreach works with thousands of children every week, patterning itself after Bill Wilson's New York ministry. Over the years it evolved into community-based programs reaching not only children, but teens and adults as well. Because of the extensive nature of their work, in 2005 Clay and Barbara began the faith-based charitable non-profit, Dallas Dream Center, an official affiliate of the Los Angeles Dream Center. Many of the children whom they have mentored over the years are now adults and have joined them in their efforts to change the city, one generation at a time. Clay and Barbara are also joined by their committed staff which includes their own two children, Brent and Carmen, as well as loyal volunteers. They have been blessed by three grandchildren, Kyla, Nathan, and Lauren who all frequently take part in the weekly events.
