Food Distribution

Teens

Food is distributed in a variety of ways through Dallas Metro. Hundreds of families receive food each month by means of our Adopt A Block program. We also respond to the needs of our neighborhood’s homeless population. We depend upon individual donors and food banks to enable us to distribute food throughout the city.

Each year during the holidays the greatest need is always the same- food. Dallas Metro is committed to reaching the needs of the inner-city, and during the Thanksgiving season, food is always a priority. Each year we provide hundreds of boxes full of food.

Each box contains canned goods and other food items such as cereal and pasta, as well as a turkey. These food boxes are a tremendous blessing to needy families, and the delivery of these boxes is always received with joy. Many of our families have little or nothing to serve to their families on Thanksgiving, and the Boxes of Love provide an opportunity for families to join together and celebrate the holiday, and provide food throughout the holiday while the children are not in school. Tears and excitement are the common greeting as we deliver the baskets. We recall one mother who fell to her knees and wept with joy, because she had no food for her family. She had sent her children to other homes for Thanksgiving. Because of the generosity of churches and individuals, this mother was able to reunite her family and serve them a traditional Thanksgiving meal!

Without the support of faithful individuals and churches, Dallas Metro would not be able to meet this great need. You can be a part either making the box or sponsoring a family for only $25. If you choose to bless a family by making a box yourself, some of the items suggested are:

  • Turkey
  • Stuffing
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Soup
  • Cereal or oatmeal
  • Boxed dessert
  • 6 canned vegetables
  • Beans and rice
  • Peanut Butter
  • Fruit

All of the items can be placed in a dollar store laundry basket, and will be hand delivered by Dallas Metro staff. Please consider this unique opportunity to bless needy Dallas families and to participate in the spirit of the holiday season.
