Christmas Store

Christmas is not a very happy time in the inner city.  It is a time where once again the parents feel like they fall short of society’s standards and cannot meet the needs of their families.  No one likes to let their child down, especially at Christmas time, yet this is a burden that the moms feel overwhelmed by each year.  It is already a struggle to put food on the table and to clothe the children and then Christmas arrives.  How can they give their child a Christmas gift when they can’t even supply them with enough food so that they do not go hungry?

This is where Dallas Metro tries to come in and help alleviate their problems.  Each year, we turn our facilities into a Christmas store to give the chance for inner city moms to be able to give their children at least one gift for Christmas.  The moms come in and get to pick out one big gift for each child, a small gift, clothing, and lots of stocking stuffers.  This is our most anticipated event of the year.  The moms are so overwhelmed by the generosity–they leave with a completely new demeanor.
