Metro Kidz Camp
One of the highlights of our year is Dallas Metro Kidz Summer Camp. This four day fun filled adventure is an opportunity for our children to get away from home, spend time with friends, and experience God in a way they’ll never forget. Every year we take around 400 children to a beautiful campground in North Texas, which includes spacious cabins, an interactive playground, swimming pool and water slides. During the day the children enjoy water and sport games, with a mid-morning snack. They receive three meals a day, something that most of our children do not receive at home. The staff and volunteers of Dallas Metro Ministries serve as cabin leaders and have a unique opportunity to spend individual time with each child, to learn more about them, pray with them, and just to love them. Many of the kids grow up to become Metro volunteers because of their experience at camp, and many find friends that last a lifetime. On the last day of camp, each child receives that year’s camp shirt, which most children proudly wear for years. During the evenings a power-filled team ministers to the children with games, songs, puppets, and always an incredible message of God’s love. The service is the most important time of the day, and God always moves in a powerful way. Many walls are broken down each night, and lives are changed forever. Many children give their hearts to the Lord, and have an opportunity to go farther in their walk with God. Camp is a safe place for our children; it is a place far from their everyday world of gangs, drugs and abuse. It is a place where for four days they can sleep soundly, knowing that no harm will come to them. Will you help? For only $100, you can provide one child with a weekend of fun, safety, three meals a day and most importantly-God. The lasting spiritual effects last far longer that the food and recreation we provide. The seeds planted will flourish over a lifetime.
